The 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition "Prize-Winners Concerts" to be broadcast live in high-resolution DSD audio.
Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) will broadcast the "Prize-Winners Concerts" performed at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in live streaming, and the broadcast will use the high-resolution "Direct Streaming Digital (DSD™)" audio format in the 5.6 MHz band.
This competition is held once every five years in Warsaw, Poland, birthplace of Chopin, and it is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. It is said to be one of the top three, along with the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the International Tchaikovsky Competition. Past winners have achieved great fame as performers, and this competition is said to be the ne plus ultra for young pianists. The selection process began in April of this year, and the winners will be chosen at the Grand Finale held from October 18 to October 20. The top performers will perform in a prize-winners concert, and it will be broadcast live to the entire world over the Internet in high-resolution DSD audio.
Even people who do not have a D/A converter (DAC) can listen to the performances using a regular computer at whatever quality level is available. We hope that everyone enjoys the live performances performed with the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra.
