IIJ-Tech to Launch the DB Consulting Solution
IIJ Technology Inc.
TOKYO--March 24, 2009--IIJ Technology Inc., (IIJ-Tech) today announced the April 2009 release of the DB Consulting Solution, a service that provides IIJ-Tech customers with database support for the entire system lifecycle, from construction to operation and evaluation.
The DB Consulting Solution is a proactive approach to database maintenance. We constantly monitor the customer's database environment for hidden problems and then propose solutions to quickly and cost effectively resolve them. The goal is to deliver to the customer the optimum database environment while reducing the customer's IT overhead.
Support through all phases of the database system lifecycle
IIJ-Tech has been providing shared database service since 2000 through the IBPS Data Management Service. IIJ-Tech's database experts use their years of experience to provide integrated support for all phases of database development and operation--from database sizing, to parameter definition, design, construction, performance testing, fault investigation, and failure response support.
Fast, expert consulting at a quarter of the current market price
Normally, database tuning occurs in four stages--data collection, analysis, proposal development, and consulting--which is costly and time consuming. IIJ-Tech's DB Consulting Solution uses the IBPS Management Service to regularly monitor the customer's database status and perform data collection and analysis. Using this data, we can move to the proposal development and consulting phase in as little as two weeks, providing superior service at one quarter of the going market price.
A proactive approach through regular monitoring
Regular data collection allows us to quickly research and get to the bottom of problems, even those that occur suddenly and unexpected. When latent database problems are uncovered, IIJ-Tech can move quickly to propose a solution that can be implemented over time in a controlled manner.
Before database consulting
We perform many services necessary to implementing a new database, including database sizing, database requirements identification, physical design, parameter design, operation design, transition, construction, and performance evaluation during system testing.
After database consulting
- Performance-monitoring data is used to proactively identify problems, locate their cause, propose a solution, and assist in the implementation of that solution.
- We also assist in database version upgrades and verifying the proper sequence of patches and their installation.
IBPS Management Service
The IBPS Management Service regularly monitors the customer's databases, servers, and network devices to detect faults and report on system performance through the IBPS Management Service Monthly Report. In addition, operational statistics are available on a special private website for each customer.
IBPS Management Service uses Performance Insight Version 5.4.1. (from Insight Technology, Inc.) as the database monitoring tool.
