IIJ-Global to Launch New Global Network Outsourcing Solution

TOKYO--February 28, 2011--IIJ Global Solutions Inc. (IIJ-Global), an enterprise-class WAN service provider and 100% owned subsidiary of Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774)--one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers--today announced the March 2011 release of a new solution to bolster the existing service lineup of their Global Network Outsourcing Solution (Global NOS).
The new Global NOS has new tie-ups with telecommunications carriers in China and other countries in Asia and Europe in addition to their existing tie-ups with Japanese carriers, and by combining the network services of multiple carriers, Global NOS provides a unique and highly reliable solution. Existing international network services primarily offer single-carrier services or services provided by a main carrier and a local carrier in specific regions. IIJ-Global does not rely on any one telecommunications carrier or solution provider, and by combining multiple partner products and services the company offers each customer an optimum network solution.
Below is a list of solution highlights.
1. Carrier diversity creates an "non-stop network"
"Carrier diversity" means using multiple telecommunications carriers to create a network that has full redundancy end-to-end, and Global NOS uses carrier diversity to create extremely stable network infrastructure. By selecting the most influential carriers in each country and region, we raise the quality of the network, and even if one carrier experiences a fault, the effects on business are minimized.
2. Security, data centers, and other value-added services create a "one-stop" solution
Global NOS provides a one-stop shop for the various solutions necessary to provide IT infrastructure to overseas business locations, including security services, data centers, and a cloud environment. Contracting with international telecommunications carriers and local installation and configuration are all performed by IIJ on behalf of the client, reducing the burden on the client's information systems personnel.
3. Multilingual support
Multilingual help desks and bilingual project managers and engineers support the service installation and operations to ensure smooth communications along the way.
IIJ-Global cut its teeth in September 2010 as a subsidiary of IIJ when it began providing WAN services and other outsourcing services for AT&T Japan. (*1) This new Global NOS solution leverages the long years of experience and expertise garnered from AT&T Japan's network outsourcing business, and we will initially target the existing clients of IIJ-Global and IIJ who are going into international markets.
