IIJ Global Launches One-stop Internet VPN Service, SmartWAN
IIJ Global Solutions Inc.
TOKYO-April 4, 2013-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, and its 100% owned subsidiary IIJ Global Solutions Inc. (IIJ Global) today announced the release of SmartWAN, a new network service with the centralized network-equipment management system, Service Adaptor Control Manager (SACM). The new service, which is to be released on April 22, 2013 is an upgraded version of IIJ Global Smart WAN Service that has been provided since September 2012.
SmartWAN provides a one-stop managed Internet VPN service, from network design and construction to access line/equipment procurement and system operation/administration. The SACM management mechanism and IIJ Global's many years of network operations experience combine to reduce the operational overhead normally associated with corporate networks. Through SmartWAN service, clients receive high-quality yet affordable network environment with IIJ's new proprietary service adapter, SA-W1. With contract terms as short as one month, the service can be used in a wide range of short-term applications.
SmartWAN has following features:
Wireless-LAN service adapter SA-W1
The SmartWAN service includes IIJ's proprietary service adapter such as SA-W1. The SA-W1 service adapter makes it possible to establish a network environment in stores and other locations that may be difficult to setup a traditional wired Internet access line (mobile VPN connections are planned for release in July 2013). It also supports the increasingly popular tablet devices. The wireless access point can be centrally managed through the SACM.
SA-W1 is also compatible with IPv6 (NGNVPN), which is expected to be used in a growing number of applications. This makes it possible to build a low-cost IPv6 environment to take advantage of the low-latency, high throughput, and superior security of IPv6.
Low-maintenance operations monitoring
The IIJ Global Help Desk monitors the equipment and lines 24 /7. With an efficient and fast operations service, the client gets a stable network environment without the operational overhead. Clients can check on the status of a nation-wide SA-W1 network through a dedicated Web portal, and they can also receive notifications by email in the event of a network failure.
One-month minimum contract
The minimum contract term is one month, making this service ideal for a broad range of temporary applications. This makes it possible to setup a short-term network at a construction site or a temporary store or office.
Double wireless WAN functions (scheduled for the first half of the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2014)
In addition to the common wireless WAN connection, there is a second wireless WAN function that can be used simultaneously with a different mobile data carrier, which also provides communications redundancy.
IIJ Global will continue to leverage the synergy within the IIJ Group to develop and provide services that meet a broad range of needs.
