IIJ GIO Cloud Service to Support Web Infrastructure Integration at Sumitomo Forestry
TOKYO-October 31, 2011-Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, NASDAQ: IIJI, TSE1: 3774), one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network solutions providers, today announced it has been providing the IIJ GIO cloud service to Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd. for use in integrating the group's Web sites since September 2010.
In the past, each of the companies in the Sumitomo Forestry Group operated their own websites independently of each other, with different system configurations, operational methods, and security levels. There was also concerned about lost traffic during peak traffic periods when advertising on the Web or conducting events and campaigns. To solve this problem, Sumitomo Forestry Information Systems Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sumitomo Forestry Group, began to consider how to integrate the various systems and Web servers to bring IT governance in line with the group's IT strategy, and to improve development and operational efficiency. As a result, they adopted IIJ GIO as a means to this end.
Using IIJ GIO, Sumitomo Forestry Information Systems was able to implement Web infrastructure that provides scalable resources for data processing and integrated operations and security levels with the same operating costs of the old system. Before implementing the current system, Sumitomo Forestry used IIJ GIO to scale its IT resources in response to traffic volumes during some events and campaigns, thus achieving more effective sales. This performance and the widespread use of IIJ GIO across many industries made it the most attractive choice for Sumitomo Forestry.
IIJ will continue to expand the functionality of IIJ GIO to provide our client's with a secure and safe cloud service.
